すばる望遠鏡などが設置されているマウナケアの管理体制に関し、ハワイ州議会で可決された法案HB2024CD1にデビッド・イゲ ハワイ州知事が署名したことについて、国立天文台ハワイ観測所は以下の声明を発表しました。


Hawai`i plays a vital role in human understanding of astronomy and our place in the Universe. Subaru Telescope, along with our colleagues at the other Maunakea Observatories, are committed to working with the new Mauna Kea Stewardship and Oversight Authority to fulfill our responsibilities to this revered cultural and natural landscape. Together, we will continue to create and expand inclusive pathways for the people of Hawai`i to participate in the scientific discoveries and technological innovation on Maunakea. We recognize the many ways of knowing, sharing appreciation for and exploring the Universe, and are honored to be part of this important initiative to shape the future of Maunakea, Hawai`i, and astronomy.
