Last updated: July 1, 2023

The Subaru Telescope has started a new outreach camera project in collaboration with the Asahi-Shimbun, one of the most popular newspapers in Japan. This camera is used for live streaming of the night-sky from the Subaru Telescope on Maunakea.

You can enjoy not only the stars but also the beautiful spectacle of twilight to sunrise as if you were standing on the catwalk of the telescope dome! The daytime view is also available. In other words, the camera runs 24/7 via the YouTube Channel of Asahi Space Club (Uchu-Bu)! You can access it from the link below.

Installation of this camera has been approved by the Center for Maunakea Stewardship (CMS). Other Maunakea observatories have also shown their support for this outreach program. We will be working closely with them to provide the images captured by the camera.

We really hope you and your family can enjoy the view from the Subaru Telescope!
