Figure 1: Changes in the night sky during the total lunar eclipse in May 2021, as captured by our live streaming; before (left) and during (right) the total lunar eclipse. This time, we will try 4K live streaming for the first time from Subaru Telescope. Please enjoy! (Credit: Subaru Telescope, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, and Asahi Shimbun Company).

You can access the streaming site from a banner on the Subaru Telescope website. The Asahi Shimbun "Uchu-bu" channel on YouTube (Note 1) will also have a link to the site. In addition, our live streaming view will also be featured in the special Lunar Eclipse Live channel from the NAOJ headquarter (Japanese only).

In Japan, the total lunar eclipse will occur during the early evening in the late autumn sky. The maximum total lunar eclipse will occur around 8:00 PM (JST), which will allow everyone to enjoy the view of the red moon relatively easily. Please come out and enjoy the fantastic scenery. Of course, don't forget to access the live webcast from Subaru Telescope (Note 2)! Please enjoy the dynamic changes of the starry sky as the lunar eclipse proceeds.
