On October 2, 2024 (Hawai‘i Standard Time), Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS appeared in the eastern sky. From Maunakea in the early morning, its long tail stretched across the vivid dawn sky, illuminated by the colors of sunrise.
Afterward, the comet passed close to the Sun and reappeared in the western sky in mid-October.
