The Subaru Telescope gazes into the clear winter night sky. High above the enclosure shines the Pleiades star cluster—known as Subaru in Japanese and Makaliʻi in Hawaiian. Just above the enclosure near the center-left of the frame stands the constellation Orion, while to its left, the softly glowing winter Milky Way stretches across the sky.
