In Summit observation room,
there are SunBlade (ana, ana2) and FujitsuPrimePower200 (aws1, aws2, aws3) workstations are available for quick look reduction
of your data.
What YOU CAN DO...
You can edit "operation file" for your observing run. In detail, see here .
You can reduce your data with IRAF, and so on. In detail, see here .
You can read E-mails with mule, netscape and so on.
You can fill up your observing report form . (inside Subaur Network only!, in detail refer the instruction sheet).
You can print out with PostScript printers "sosprtm1" etc.
You can access to gate1.naoj.org and gate2.naoj.org in Hilo base facility.
You can "scp" your data to gate1.naoj.org in Hilo office or workstations in your institute.
What YOU CANNOT DO....
You can not access these machines from outside machines, including workstations in Hilo office.
Theare are also two Linux machines available
(one in observation room and the other in staff lounge).
What YOU CAN DO...
You can read/write E-mails with kterm, mule, netscape and so on.
You can edit "operation file" for your observing run (offline, need ftp after editing).
You can reduce your data with IRAF, and so on. For available softwares, please refer a note
side of these machines.
You can fill up your observing report form.
You can print out with PostScript printers "sosprtm1" etc.
You can access to gate1.naoj.org and gate2.naoj.org in Hilo base facility.
What YOU CANNOT DO....
You can not access these machines FROM outside machines.
You can not access to Subaru Telescope ARchive System DIRECTRY. You need to start up netscape on gate1.naoj.org and gate2.naoj.org, and save your data in a scratch directry in these machine. After that you can ftp, scp your data to these Linux machines.
If you prefer to use Windows machine, there is a Windows 2000 desktop machine
in observation room.
If you have your own
lap-top PC, you can connect that with blue E-thernet cables (NO wireless-LAN).

In order to access ApJ pages etc, you need to setup proxy. Use
proxy server "c02.naoj.org" and port "8080".
