In staff lounge of the second floor of the Subaru Hilo base facility,
there are two SunBlade1000 workstations are available for open use observers.
You can login to these workstations with your Subaru Network account.
What YOU CAN DO...
You can read/write E-mails with kterm, mule, netscape and so on.
You can edit "operation file" for your observing run (offline, need ftp after editing). In detail, see here .
You can get your data with Subaru Telescope ARchive System (STARS). For usage of STARS, please refer STARS home page.
You can reduce your data with IRAF, IDL, and so on. For available softwares, please refer software list page.
When you reduce your data, use scratch area. Use "getscr" command to make your own scratch area. The area will be removed after 2weeks.
You can access to linux machines at HalePohaku (hp1.naoj.hawaii.edu) and summit (poliahu.naoj.org, haukea.naoj.org).
What YOU CANNOT DO....
You can not access these machines from outside machines DIRECTRY. Access to Subaru Network Machines have to go through Gateway (gate.naoj.org) with special account/passwd. In detail, please refer access from outside page . For the account/passwd please contact support staff .
You can not access to the Subaru machines at summit.
If you have your own
lap-top PC, you can connect that with blue E-thernet cables at staff lounge or in the library (1st. floor).
