Here’s a secret about astronomical pictures. When looking at beautiful pictures taken by a telescope, have you ever wondered if the Universe is really this colorful, or if nebulas have such a color? The pictures are taken in black and white using a “filter” that only passes a specific wavelength. Then, the pictures taken in various filters are combined and made into colorful pictures! Pictures taken in infrared light (light that cannot be seen with the human eye) are also combined the same way and become pictures with artificial colors!
