We propose a deep and wide imaging survey, taking advantage of the extremely wide field of view of HSC, of nearby Galactic ultra-diffuse galaxy, Antlia 2, having extremely large angular radius of 1.27 degree. Our survey will play an important role for constraining the detailed stellar distribution and star formation history. These information should be essential to understanding formation and evolution of this galaxy. We request in total 8 hours for HSC queue mode observations to obtain deep and wide their photometric data well beyond the very large half-light radius with the g, i, and NB515 filters. Our ultimate goal is to reveal the formation history and the dark matter distribution of Antlia 2. To this end, we will inspect the stellar populations through their metallicities and ages based on the combined properties of red giant branch (RGB), horizontal branch (HB), and main-sequence turn off (MSTO) stars. The RGB stars will be efficiently extracted from a narrow-band filter, NB515. This survey is essential to create the best photometric catalog for the future PFS survey for Antlia 2.
