CCD troubles and the solutions

There are some typical cases of the CCD-related troubles.

  1. CCD would not respond to the SOSS command (i.e., integration would not starts after wiping the CCD).
  2. Incoming image is the same as the last image taken.
  3. All images look strange. E.g., every row of the image is misaligned.

Check the cause for the case 1

  1. Cannot issue commands relevant to CCD such as "Vcheck" and "Init" from UI. You will find an error message immediately after issuing the command.
  2. There are some errors, or "[E]" messages in CE and/or M3.
  3. No NI and/or FT software are running when checking on the "process check" button on the FALCONMENU.

Solution for the case 1

  1. Press "cancel" in the SOSS.
  2. Type "CA" and <return> in CE terminal to CAncel the CE commands.
  3. Type "CA" and <return> in M3 terminal to CAncel the M3 commands.
  4. If some software is missing in the "process check", quit it and restart it from the FALCONMENU.

Check the cause for the cases of 2 and 3

Press "Vcheck" on the CCD tab screen on the UI. If you receive an error, the CCD power has turned off for some reasons.
Check the voltage displayed in Messia_log window. If it shows any bad channels, the power went off.

Solution for the cases of 2 and 3

Turn off the CCD power from the APC netscape power manager, and then powet it up after wating for a while (say, ~10 sec).
Press "Vcheck" again to see if there is no bad channel detected.
